Biography

Harri Kahlos is a Finnish pianist. He studied at the Oulu Conservatoire of Music in Finland, under prof. Olga Maslak (Odessa Conservatoire), and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (UK), under prof. Peter Bithell and Darla Crispin (Canada). He graduated in 1995 with two Diplomas of Distinction (LGSM/ Distinction; LLCM/ Distinction). Mr. Kahlos has participated in masterclasses and got private tuition by Maestro Sviatoslav Richter, Sir Alfred Brendel, Martha Argerich and Bella Davidovich subsequently. Harri performs constantly all over the world, as a recitalist and as an orchestra soloist. He has performed with e.g. New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Concertgebouw or chestra, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Czech Philharmonia and Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors like Mehta, Haitink, Rattle, Eschenbach and Dausgaard. He included Rachmaninoff 3. and Shostakovich 1. piano concertos to his recent CD, with Czech Philharmonia. His debut recital at the Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium) in New York City in 2008 was a big success by press and audience alike. Mr. Kahlos has received number of prizes in international competitions, like the 1st prize in “Concours-Musical-de-France” in 2009; “Distinguished Pianist” Prize in IBLA –music competition in Sicily in 2009; as well as the 2nd prize in “Vulaines-sur-Seine” –competition in Paris in 2012.
