Biography
Cetin Cetinkaya is a professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering at Clarkson University, New York, USA. He has received his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Illinois, USA, in 1990 and 1994, respectively, upon completing his undergraduate degree at Istanbul Technical University, all in aerospace engineering. He is the founder and the director of the Photo-Acoustics Research Laboratory at Clarkson University. His research areas include wave propagation, acoustics, laser ultrasonic, and their applications in Hall Effect plasma thruster design, laser-based acceleration mechanisms, laser-induced-plasma generated shock waves, micro particle adhesion characterization, and advanced materials characterization. The PAR Laboratory has received research funds from the US Army, the National Science Foundation, Intel, SEMATECH, Xerox Corp., Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer Inc., Praxair/Electronics, as well as Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) at Clarkson. Prof. Cetinkaya is an ASME Fellow since 2011.
