Dr. M. P. SRIVASTAVA, Professor , Coordinator UGC-SAP ,Department of Physics and Astrophysics (2004-todate), University of Delhi ,after having topped in M. Sc.(Physics) in 1965 from Lucknow University and recipient of a Gold medal, received his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore in 1969.He has been actively involved in research since 1965 and has been teaching at Delhi University since 1970.He is the author of about one hundred research papers in journals of International repute and has got two process patents to his credit. He has supervised nineteen students for their research work who have been awarded Ph.D. degree from Delhi University. He nucleated and developed a full-fledged Experimental Plasma Research group which is involved with basic Plasma phenomena and plasma processing of nanomaterials, particularly on phase changes of materials in thin film form and thin film deposition and Nanofabrication of materials using Dense Plasma Focus device. He has been responsible in networking Plasma Research laboratory at Delhi University with 33 member Institutions in 21 countries spread over Asia and Africa with his efforts. Earlier he had made important contributions in the field of Kinetic Theory of plasmas, Waves and Instabilities in plasmas, Laser Plasma Interactions, Positron Annihilation in gases, Nonlinear wave-wave and Wave particle Interaction in plasmas. He is listed in Marquis USA “Who’s Who in the World”. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001-02.He has lectured at various Universities/Institutes in USA, USSR, Europe, Japan, Australia and South East Asia, and has delivered invited lectures in a large number of International and National conferences where in he has also Chaired various Sessions. He has been Platinum Jubilee Lecturer of Physics Section of 87th Session of Indian Science Congress Association in the year 2000.He has been the Vice –President(1988-2004) and (2008-to date) of Asian African Association for Plasma Training (AAAPT) , President(1999-2000) and Vice President (1990-91) of Plasma Science Society of India. He has been an Associate member (1983) of International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. He has been involved in the organization of various International and National Conferences as Member/Co-Chairman of organizing committee and Member International Advisory Committee.
