Biography
Dorian Gorgan is Professor in Computer Science Department of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, PhD supervisor in Computers and Information Technology, and coordinator of the Computer Graphics and Interactive System Laboratory (CGIS). He is the president of RoCHI group (ACM SIGCHI Romania) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Romanian Journal of Human Computer Interaction. The fields of interest concern with high performance graphical processing and visualization, interactive application development, user interaction techniques, parallel and distributed processing over HPC infrastructures such as Grid, Cloud, Multicore, and cluster, interoperability of HPC platforms, and interdisciplinary research in the domains of Earth Observation and Environment. He had an ERCIM fellowship, for post-doctoral research at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK, in the field of graphical interaction and multimedia systems. He was involved as scientific coordinator and WP leader in national and international research projects such as BIGEARTH, enviroGRIDS, IASON, SEE-GRID-SCI, GiSHEO, mEducator, iTRACE, MedioGrid, and COST.
