Biography
Y. L. Mo, Ph.D., P.E., is a professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and the Director of Thomas T.C. Hsu Structural Laboratory at the University of Houston, Houston, TX. He has a Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Hannover, Hannover, Germany and more than 30 years experience in structural engineering, including earth and space structures. Before returning to his academic career, Dr. Mo was a structural engineer at Sargent and Lundy Engineers in Chicago for seven years, working on dynamic design of structures. He has written eight books and book chapters and has had 148 technical papers published in international journals, 144 conference papers, and 51 technical reports. Based on his research performance he has received the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow Award from Germany and the Distinguished Research Award from the National Science Council of Taiwan.
